The Greenwich Village Halloween Parade has been a part of New York City’s tradition and community for 40 years. It is a night of celebration and fun for both locals and tourists, as people get the opportunity to relive their childhood experiences, whether they’re decked out in zombie garb or in flashy red paint. However, as a result of Superstorm Sandy, the parade was cancelled last year, and has been dealing with financial troubles ever since.

This year, the Halloween Kickstarter campaign has been established to help the parade meet its financial goal of $50,000. The Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber of Commerce (GVCCC) has been reaching out to its members, partners, and network to increase publicity about the campaign. Over the past week, the GVCCC has been able to secure a partnership with the Rudin Family Foundations, who have agreed to give a $15,000 matching funds grant if the campaign raises $15,000 in the next week.
